Stickiness continues, and Riley goes back to her roots

The last couple of weeks have seen incredible progress at the restaurant, and a great excuse to go to the beach.
Last week was all about the painting. First, several layers of priming and basic stock colors...

...a process that was soon layered with designs of bamboo and... (open to interpretation. I see fish scales)...

So if you had to buy a freezer, why not make it one that is being sold near the beach, making it a good excuse to get away for a weekend? Awesome Kyle lent us his super-cool water-front pad, and we ate crabs, frolicked in the ocean, and watched Riley get back to one of the things she misses most about California: the beach.

She wasn't a fan of the Old Bay Seasoning...

...and she thought the claw crackers worked better on her nose.

But she was right in her element at the beach.

We had an awesome time, but seeing this alone would have made the 3-hour drive worth it:

Hey- safety first, man.
Ride on.

Love and love,

Darth Riley, and a sticky kitchen

This past week Riley had a nasty cough, so Ronnie took her to the doctor. She came back with a nebulizer and a prescription for Albuterol- cough is nearly gone, but it made for some great pictures:

In other news, Ronnie and I tried our hands (and his newly-acquired mad sushi chef skills) at making home-made rolled sushi.

Riley was unwrapping the sushi to get to the fish- she LOVES sushi!

I haven't had a chance to get to Sticky for more pics of the on-going renovation, but I promise to get out there this week.

In the meantime, I'll peace out with a video of Ri singing...

ILoveStickyRice.com

John Yamashita, the original Sticky King (and owner of the Richmond outfit) posted a video of the Baltimore location about a month ago; thought I'd throw it up here for completeness.
(look out for Panchito in the video...)

Sticky II April 30

A little more progress... new paint and tiles.

Sticky I - April 14

These pictures are the first that were taken right after the purchase closed. Although this is the main bar area, the place is HUGE- I still have trouble counting all the rooms... Go, Sticky, GO!

Welcome!

THE BELCHERS, THE PASZTORS, HYBRIDIZED NAMES, AND ALL THINGS STICKY AND FUN.
Life is crazy! It's hard to keep everyone posted! Ronnie is opening a restaurant, Riley is doing the whole getting bigger thing that kids are wont to do... Enter the 21st century... blah blah blah... so here we are with our very first blog to keep friends and family connected across the miles.

First off, the answer to the question on everyone's minds: at least three months from now. We hope. Between the Baltimore red tape and the massive amount of renovation that is going to be required, the restaurant will take this, perhaps longer to open. BUT: there's a buzz generated already!

In the meantime, it's painting, tiling, and meetings, oh my! I'll be popping into the store and getting in the way of contractors (and Ronnie) to snap photos so that I can post pictures as things progress.
I'll also be posting pictures of Riley (she's just as much fun, but presents more of a moving target challenge to photo opps than the restaurant).
For now, buona notte!
